Alta Utah Ski ResortThis view is from the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, along Albion Basin Road. Alta's ski slopes occupy the mountain range to the left of the resort in this late dusk view. Alta boasts an annual snowfall of 46 ft (142 m). The average maximum base depth is 10 ft (3 m). It is the second oldest ski resort in the U.S.
The small, light orange streak seen below distant Sugar Loaf Peak is from the headlights of snow grooming vehicles.
